When even brackets have the ability to decide your future, you know you have to be nothing but perfect.

Not good enough. As of now, I really am simply not good enough.

H2 Computing 2009 GCE A Level Course Work Part A has ended today. It has a 25% weightage for the entire Course Work, and 6.25% weightage for the entire A Level Computing paper.

At the end of the 1st in 3 parts of the coursework, all I can say is, I am nowhere near the standard where I want to be. While people were aiming for perfect scores for coursework, I couldnt even have my program run, albeit due to silly mistakes which I could have avoided. As a result, I had to forfeit the chance to perfect my solution and to strengthen my answers.

Dont get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with the program I had prepared. In fact, I should think they were more than adequate. Afterall, all the sleepless nights and sleeping at 4 in the morning should have meant something. What I hadnt realise was, there are just some things which I couldnt have prepared for. Programming skills, and in expert system terms, heuristics. Heuristics are built upon through experience, as programming skills are through practice. I can prepare all I want on the nights before an exam, but they can never prepare me for mistakes which occur due to lack of practice.

In a wicked deja-vu kind of way, it is upper secondary years all over again. Never the diligent class of students, our class of 4B would do disappointingly badly time and time again, even though we felt we had given it 100% on the night before the exam. And what Mdm Tazneen, our then form teacher said, suddenly came back to me. "You may feel you have given it your all, and that this shouldnt be the kind of results you should be getting. What you do not realise is that preparations for examinations are not meant to take place in a night. They are long and taxing processes which require effort and sustained durations of discipline and focus."

Im going to be working hard, I have to, in order to replace the marks I've lost in this Part A. Wake up, work hard. Im still really pissed with myself. So many things running through my mind right now.

But I can feel it, Im coming round.
