And so, Arsenal and Liverpool just played out a 1-1 draw at the Emirates. So, as of now..

Team -------------- Games Played --- Points
1. Liverpool ---------------- 18 -------------- 39
2. Chelsea ----------------- 17 -------------- 37
3. Aston Villa -------------- 18 -------------- 34
4. Manchester United ---- 16 -------------- 32
5. Arsenal ------------------ 18 -------------- 31
...

And early on in the day, Manchester United were crowned FIFA Club World Cup Champions after they defeated Ecuador's LDU Quito 1-0 in the final held in Japan.

But the point of today's post isnt about football that is all that far away.

Went to watch Singapore play Vietnam at the Singapore National Stadium for a place in the final of the AFF Suzuki Cup. And sad to say, Singapore lost 0-1 at the end of 90 minutes, playing with no passion, no purpose, no drive, no sense of urgency and definitely, no luck. If drawing 0-0 back in Vietnam was a shock, losing at the Lions' Den must be a disaster then. It was a disgrace, really. Not to be a sore loser of any kind, but I just felt Vietnam didnt really win because they played well, but rather because Singapore played badly. And the Singapore team really didnt do justice to the 55,000 odd people who filled up the Singapore National Stadium to cheer them on. Oh well, what can I say. It happens in football.

Anyway, Cage at Kallang, 2nd January 2009, Friday, from 2-6 pm.

"British Muslim convert Nicky Reilly, 22, pleaded guilty in October in Exeter, England, to attempted terrorism for detonating a homemade nail bomb in the Giraffe restaurant. The plan failed when Reilly triggered the bomb in the men's room, intending to take it into the dining area, but then could not unlock the men's room door to get out. (His lawyer called him perhaps the 'least cunning' person ever to be charged with terrorism in Britain.)"

Was just packing my stuff into boxes for moving. And as I stare at my humongous pile of unread Time magazines, I really wonder how different my General Paper grade for Promos would have been if I had actually made full use of it. Sighs.

Anyway, for all you emokias out there. Be glad you have memories at all, even if they are bad ones.

Here, is Clive Wearing.

You can read more about him at his wikipedia page, here.

"Ms. Hang Mioku, 48, is winding down her 20-year obsession with cosmetic surgery, having been at one time bulked up with enough silicone in her face to earn the nickname "the standing fan" because her head was so large compared to her legs. Hang moved from South Korea to Japan for better access to surgery and said she had convinced herself that each procedure in her odyssey only made her more beautiful than the last. When finally no surgeon would treat her, she began injecting cooking oil. Finally, she was talked into face-reduction surgery (removal of 260 grams of foreign substance from her head and neck) but, according to a November report in London's Daily Telegraph, she remains grotesquely misshapen."

Just had a wonderfully relaxing bath after my early morning visit to East Coast Park.

Finally ran again today, though I think my injured ankle still cant really take it. Dark ominous clouds are gathering overhead. Gasps. Im starting to think that perhaps this injury is permanent afterall. Dang.

But anyhow, today's run wasnt so much about fitness [ Though I know Im in great need of it. ]. It was more of a psychological marker, a point for change. Internship ended more than one week ago, and I realised I havent been doing anything productive. [ Stares at my pile of homework with unimaginable hate. ] Well, I guess I did notice the inproductivity from the start, and it was at the back of my head all this time. But a part of me is just surpressing this strange urge to touch my homework, telling me to take it easy for awhile before I start getting into the heat of things which will eventually lead up to the As next year.

I guess though, its about time I started doing some honest work. No more sleeping in until I feel like waking up. No more slacking around with absolute intention to avoid any productive work. I dont want to start school next year, with the first thought on my mind being incomplete holiday homework. Im not saying Im going hardcore, it is the holidays afterall. But its definitely not going to be 100% slackerdonkeyish. Haha.

Okay. Physics, Math and General Paper. I'll also definitely start on Programming. Thank god though theres no Econs, cause everyone ponned the last lesson of the year and Mr Basil Chan couldnt assign the work. Haha. Otherwise, it'd be Project Work all over again. And I have a bad feeling that this time, I'd be doing all the work.

On a side note, I met John at East Coast. He was out night cycling with his friends. Haha. Which reminds me, he's going to be interning at TJ as a GP tutor. It'll be fun.

Hmm. Its interesting how some people are just destined for great things, while others just struggle to survive. Of course, there are those who are also destined for great things, but do it a year later. (:

" 'I'm really sorry. ... I thought he was just tired,' said Lynne Stewart, who was arrested in West Melbourne, Fla., in October and charged with stealing items from a 56-year-old, unconscious man who in fact had just suffered a fatal heart attack during sex with Stewart. She blamed her larceny on a cocaine binge that impaired her judgment such that (according to a police commander) she had sex with 20 men that weekend. (However, she was not charged with prostitution. Said the commander, "No, she just likes sex.")"

Manchester United 1 - 0 Sunderland

Take that, bitches!

Omfgoodnessme. I will never comprehend how a team playing with practically 10 forwards in a 11-man team, rarely stepped inside they're own half, had 75% possession, had 30 shots taken, and 10 corners given to, can score only 90 minutes and a few seconds later. And through a defender, might I add. The opposition's keeper was probably the person in the team who's touched the ball the most number of times. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if some of their player's had touched the ball less than 10 times.

But nevertheless, it came, in the end. Just like everyone expected it to. You will never be able to imagine how worked up I was when Nemanja Vidic finally put in that winning goal. That feeling when Carrick's shot hit the post and the ball bounced and hobbled just about metres off the goal line. That expectation, or desperation even, for a red shirt to be there to orchestrate the finale. And alas, one of United's most beloved sons, Nemanja Vidic, was there to cap off what was to be a simply wonderful night. All that pent up emotion built up through 90 torturously wonderful minutes, all released in a single celebration from people all over the world. When you're out tomorrow, dont be surprised to see grinning faces bursting to say "I told you so."

"Merle Sorenson, 48, had to be rescued from the Columbia River near Quincy, Wash., in October, where he nearly drowned after driving his Humvee off of a boat launch. He told the rescuers that he was trying to clean his tires and wanted to see how far he could drive the vehicle into the water but still be able to back out."

Epitome of self-amusement.

And yes, the reflection on internship is coming. Erm, soon.

"The Brazilian designer Lucia Lorio introduced women's lingerie in October containing a global positioning device to enable the wearer to be tracked by satellite. The creator said the password-protected lace bodice would make it easier for women kidnapped by thugs or terrorists to be located and rescued. Critics called it a virtual chastity belt, primarily of service to insecure males curious to know where their women are."
